The First Catch in a Fishing Trip | Essay for 9 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

I have learnt that fishing is one activity that really drives the value of patience. Have a look at my essay on "The First Catch in a Fishing Trip" .              It was a scorching hot Sunday afternoon.   Sunlight beat down mercilessly from the pale blue sky .   Mike, his father, Mr. Lim and sister, Anna, were at the lake fishing.  Beads of perspiration dotted Mike’s forehead and upper lip as he sat beside Mr. Lim, holding onto his fishing rod and watching the still waters of the pond intently.   He was as quiet as a mouse .              An hour later and Mike’s enthusiasm began to wane. Mike was growing extremely bored and his vision blurred. It seemed like black spots were dancing in his hazelnut eyes. Moments later, Mike’s head was nodding away as he drifted into dreamland.   Half an hour later, Mike was rudely awoken by a thunderous voice .   “Mike!” Mr. Lim’s sharp cry broug...

Fishing Trip (Primary 2 Essay for 8 year olds by Elijah Wee, Singapore)

Another one from the old collection of my Primary Two (8 years old) essays. I did this one at home. Fishing Trip It was a hot and blistering day .   Tom and his father decided to go to the river to fish.   It was Tom’s first fishing trip and he didn’t want to miss it. When they reached there, Tom and his father sat at the river and Tom’s father took out bait and fishing rods to fish with.   Tom’s father gave Tom one to fish. After half an hour, Tom felt a strong tug from his fishing line.   Tom quickly pulled out his fishing rod out.   The fish that he caught was struggling to get out.   Tom also struggled to pull the fish out of the water.   When he finally managed to pull it out, he took a look at it and found out it was an enormous fish.   Tom felt excited about this first catch. After that, they started a fire. They cooked the fish over the fire. The fish was very delicious. Tom looked forwa...

My First Prawn Fishing Experience - 20 MARCH 2010

Dear Journal, Yesterday, 20th March, my 2 cousins and I had an enjoyable time fishing for prawns at the Sin Ming Prawn Fishing area. Although the skies were still dark and it was still drizzling, that did not dampen our spirits as we chattered excitedly in our uncle's car all the way to our destination - Bishan Prawn Fishing (Hai Bin U Enterprise). The address of Hai Bin U Enterprise is Bishan Prawning Place, at No. 603 Sin Ming Ave, S(575735). After renting our fishing rods and selecting our spot, our parents started hooking the bait onto the hooks of the fishing rods before casting the fishing lines into the pond. We used both liver and earthworms for our bait. Prawn fishing is not easy. It requires lots of patience and skill. After letting a few prawns get away, my mother finally managed to catch a large prawn after about 15 mins! Here is a photo of us together with our catch! While my parents were fishing, my cousins, Chloe and Clara, and I helped ourselves to the fried fishb...
