Betrayed | Short Story for Kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

I enjoyed writing the following short story "Betrayed" which tells about a heist gone wrong. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I loved writing it.             Betrayed …             It all started like this. I was the leader of a notorious gang known as the Mandarin, committing heists all around the prosperous island of Singapore. Our team consisted of Jack, John and myself. Jack Worming was a small ratty-looking man whose front teeth stuck out underneath an apparently well-groomed moustache – incidentally his pride and joy. Jack was the brains of the team – his deep-set eyes could burrow into your deepest thoughts and his thin lips were periodically pursed into a cryptic smile.             John Armstrong, however, was the muscle, in the team. He was probably once a competitive athlete as eve...

Nasty Encounter with a Snatch Thief | Primary School Essays | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Exams are over and I'm back posting more essays. My next one "Nasty Encounter with a Snatch Thief" for your reading pleasure ...    As the saying goes ‘Low crime doesn’t mean no crime’. The police are always reminding citizens to be vigilant and observant of their surroundings. Criminals spring up at the most unexpected times and might take advantage of them. It is mostly the women who are likely to fall prey to these criminals. Here is a story of a theft that had occurred to a middle-aged lady. “A few more metres and I will reach the bus stop!” convincing herself as Mrs Gan took another stride. She had just finished her shopping and was walking to the bus-stop to catch a bus back home. Mrs Gan almond shaped eyes scanned her surroundings and inched her way towards the bus-stop she was heading to. At that juncture, a black motorcycle with two men whizzed out from nowhere and sped towards a panic-stricken Mrs Gan. As audacious as the day, the pillion rider lu...

Encounter with a burglar | essay for 9 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is another version of an "Encounter with a burglar" which I wrote during my Primary Three school holidays when I was 9 years old.             Helen put down the pen. She had just finished writing the last chapter of her storybook. She could hear the howling of the wind outside. Just then, the door of her study room slammed shut. Startled, Helen decided to open the door. Slowly and carefully, she opened it and looked around the dark house as fear intensified. As Helen walked down the flight of stairs, she noticed that the living room was in a mess. Magazines were scattered all over the floor and a pillow from a sofa was missing. Fear engulfed her. She concluded that a robber may have broken into her house and was currently rummaging through her belongings.             Helen decided to check all the rooms in her house. With a flick of the s...

Robbery at NTUC Supermarket | Essay for 10 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is an essay I wrote way back during my Primary Three school holidays, "Robbery at NTUC Supermarket" . “Mum, can I accompany you to Fairprice Finest?” I asked Mother. “Of course you can,” Mother replied. She was going to the supermarket, Fairprice Finest to buy some eggs as there were none left. When we reached Fairprice Finest, the place was packed like a can of sardines. People were buying food, dairy products and other essentials too. Mother gently informed me, “Remember the golden rule. Do not wander off or you may get lost. Always stick close by.” I nodded my head in acknowledgement. Half an hour and we had gathered all the groceries. We were just about to go to the cashier to pay for the eggs when we heard an ear-piercing scream. Startled out of my wits, I took a step back. I took two steps forward as I wanted to catch a glimpse of what was going on. To my utter astonishment, I saw several armed robbers. They were holding knives, which glinted under t...
