A lesson learnt | Primary School Essay for kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"A lesson learnt" - my next essay may ring a bell with some of you readers ;-)             The computer emitted a loud ka-boom.             I was playing the latest PC game “Call of Duty Black Ops 2”. The game was rather enthralling and I was glued to my seat for hours upon end. My face was as cheery as a sunbeam and I exclaimed happily, “Ha! Ha! This level is so easy!” Grinning from ear to ear, I continued playing. Time seemed to fly by even without me realising it. Dusk has set and darkness soon engulfed us.             “Sean, come out for dinner! I have cooked your favourite crispy chicken wings!” Mother’s call seemed to express a motive to stop me from playing and to come out for dinner. However, my irritated reply reverberated around the house. “Just wait a few more seconds!” “All right! But please come ou...

Lost for words | Short Story, Essay for kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is the first post from me in 2014, with the story "Lost for words" .           Lost for words.           It all started because of Mother’s favourite book, which was a gift from her best friend, being torn to shreds. Fuming with rage, Mother was as mad as a hornet. Marching towards my brother, Luke and me, Mother stared daggers at both of us. “Who did it?” Who had the nerves of steel to rip up my book? Perhaps it was you, James?” Mother’s murderous looks chiseled through me. I turned tongue-tied. “But … but how – “ “Don’t deny the truth!” I know it’s you for certain!” Mother thundered as she stared at me balefully. I had to endure what seemed like hell for a torturous hour before being let off. When Mother stormed away, I muttered under my breath, “Why am I always being reprimanded by Mother?” I was definitely an unlucky child. Why was Luke always the apple of her eye? Why? Speaking of Luke, did I just see him grin?  ...

Jealousy | Essay for 10 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"Jealousy" - a common and often felt expression towards family and friends. Here is an essay around this topic I wrote.             Insanely jealous.             I had always been insanely jealous of my baby brother, Rayson. From the day Rayson was born, an immense and unexplainable jealousy built up in my heart. The time that my parents used to spend with me was now wasted on a baby who always made incessant ear-piercing cries and toothless grins. Most of my parents’ attention and affection had been inevitably diverted from me to Rayson. I hated the very sight of him. My insane jealousy became a thing of the past on one fateful Saturday …             I eyed Rayson with envious cynicism as I watched the last episode of Glee, the teenage drama. As usual, my face darkened when I saw my brother strut...

Quarrel among siblings at home | Essay for 9 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"Quarrel among siblings at home"  was a practice essay during my December school holidays.             Matthew burst into laughter and it resonated through the newly refurbished living room. He had his chestnut eyes glued to his favourite programme on television. Matthew was seated comfortably on the marble floor, thoroughly enjoying himself. The cartoon programme enthralled him with the comical antics of its animated characters. Matthew’s cheeks were flushed with amusement.             At that very moment, the television screen then flashed a ballet dancer as graceful as a swan. Matthew yelped out in total surprise. He was flabbergasted that his sister, Jane had the remote control in her right hand. Matthew went hysterical with rage and yelled at Jane, “Give me the remote control!” Like a spoilt brat, Jane pulled a sullen face and replied torment...

Incident of the broken vase – a case of trying to multi-task | Essay for 9 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is a piece of work I did up during my Primary Three December school holidays - " Incident of the broken vase – a case of trying to multi-task" . “I will be back in the evening, Sammi,” Sammi’s mother, Mrs Muthu informed Sammi. Sammi replied,”When both of you get back, I promise that every nook and cranny of the house will be spick and span.” Sammi had volunteered to clean up the house while her parents attended a wedding dinner. When Sammi’s parents left, Sammi began cleaning the house. She mopped the marble floor and swept meticulously every part of the house. When she was almost done, she smiled broadly, appreciative of a job well done. However, there was still more thing to do and that was to wipe the dust off the furniture. Without hesitation, she started working on it. As she was dusting, it then dawned on her that her favourite cartoon had just started. Sharing rooted to the ground, she was in a dilemma for a while as to whether to wipe Mr...
