Encounter with a thief in the MRT Train Station | Primary Three Essay (for 9 year olds) | Elijah Wee | Singapore

I had the following assignment when I was in Primary Three to describe an "Encounter with a thief in the MRT train station" . It was rather fun developing the story ;-) “Tick! Tick!” Second after second dragged by as Janet waited for the train to arrive. As she was waiting, she noticed a suspicious-looking middle-aged man. Janet observed him and saw that the middle-aged man was dressed in a blue shirt, a pair of brown pants and he had glasses on. She saw that the man was staring at an elderly man’s wallet in his rear pocket. Just then, the train arrived. When the elderly man was about to board the train, the middle-aged man saw his chance and pulled the wallet out from the elderly man’s pocket. Then, the middle-aged man took off, as swift as the wind, towards the exit of the train station. When Janet saw what had happened, she first stood rooted to the ground. After raining her composure, Janet alerted the security guard by shouting at the top ...

School Fight! | Elijah Wee | Primary Three Essay (for 9 year olds) | Singapore

Here's one I wrote about a "School Fight" during my Primary Three days. “Ring … Ring!” the bell for recess rang loudly. Pupils swarmed into the canteen to purchase food to eat. Some pupils went to purchase drinks to quench their thirst. After finishing their plates of fried noodles, Jason and Tommy placed their plates into the receptacles before going to the back alley of the canteen. When they reached the back alley, Jason fished out a pack of magic cards. They had agreed the previous day to play a game of ‘scissors, paper and stone’ at the back alley of the canteen. Jason and Tommy had decided that whoever won would get to keep the pack of magic cards. “Yes! I won! Now Jason give me the pack of magic cards.” Tommy exclaimed excitedly. Jason was unwilling to give the pack of magic cards. So he said, “Let’s have another game to decide who is the winner.” At that moment, a voice boomed from nowhere, “Why not fight to decide who is the one who deserve the pack o...

The Mango Theft Incident | Elijah Wee | Primary Three (9 year olds) Essay | Singapore

Here's another essay from my Ngee Ann Primary School Primary Three collection entitled "The Mango Theft Incident" . It was a tranquil Saturday afternoon. Sunlight filtered through the clouds. John was taking a stroll along the pavement. He had not eaten anything for breakfast and lunch as he had no mood to eat. “I should have eaten,” Jon thought to himself. As John was about to reach home, he shot furtive glances at Mrs Toh’s garden. Mrs Toh was John’s neighbor. She had always liked planting mango trees, so when John saw a mango tree which had a lot of ripe mangoes on it, his stomach growled in hunger. He was thrilled to bits when he saw the mangoes. John rubbed his hands gleefully and decided to steal a mango. John clambered over the fence and crept quietly into Mrs Toh’s garden. He scaled up the tree. Hands trembling, John plucked the mango closest to him. He was about the climb down when the branch that he was clinging onto suddenly snap...

A friend in need on a rainy day | Elijah Wee | Primary Three Essay (for 9 year olds) | Singapore

I will be posting up a couple of the school essays I composed during my Primary Three (9 year old) days at Ngee Ann Primary School . Here's one entitled "A friend in need on a rainy day" . It was raining heavily. Rain poured won in torrents. Lightning flashed and thunder roared. Janet was walking back home from school when the thunderstorm began. She immediately went to take shelter at a bus stop. Janet found that she was not the only one taking shelter at the bus stop. There were several adults, and even Janet’s friend, Anne was there. Janet found a seat beside Anne and sat on it. Janet then talked to Anne, “Hello, Anne.” “Oh, Janet, how nice to see you!” Anne said. Janet and Anne chatted happily as they waited for the rain to stop. They got to know about each other’s favourite books, interests and more. At that juncture, a truck appeared. It whizzed past the bus stop, splashing dirty water onto the people at the bus stop. Janet got drenched...

Chicken and friends at a picnic - an early Primary Two essay (for 8 year olds) | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is a very short essay I wrote in the earlier part of my Primary Two (8 year old) days ... "Chicken and friends at a picnic" . It was a sunny day. Chicken and his friends decided to have a picnic. They packed everything they needed for the picnic. After that, they set off. When they reached the field, Chicken’s best friend, Raccoon, laid out the picnic mat while Chicken and the rest of his friends took out the food. When they had finished, they sat down to enjoy their meal. There was a buffet of delicious food lined up awaiting to be eaten . They enjoyed the food and at the end of it, they were stuffed . After finishing the food, they played some games before going home. It was a wonderful day for them. How did you find this short story? ;-) Later soon, Elijah Wee Photo credit: Pinti 1 / Foter.com / CC BY

What happens when you shirk your homework - (Singapore) Elijah Wee's Primary Three Essay for 9 year olds

"What happens when you shirk your homework?" - this was the title of an essay I wrote in Primary Three (9 year old). Tell me what you think? Jack sat in his seat, his eyes glued frantically onto his Science assignment.  Being particularly weak in the topic, he had been desperately recollecting from the deepest recesses of his mind to solve the questions posed but to no avail.  Miserable as he was with the lack of progress in his assignment, he prodded on as glum as an oyster . Out of the blue , a familiar voice rang out.  “Jack, come out and play.  It is a glorious day outside!”  Almost instantly, he put down his assignment and tore down the stairs of his house as eager as a bridegroom to the beckoning sunshine outside. Like a bird freed from its cage , Jack played football with Mark in the open field with wild abandon .  “Jack, what are you doing?” his mother’s voice shrieked from behind him.  Like a thief caught red-handed , Jack stood r...
