Here is an essay on "a family outing".
Whenever I sum up these words in my mind, they would
remind me of the memorable camping trip my family and I had last month during
the school holidays …
“Hooray! We are going for a camping trip!” Evan, my
brother, hollered impatiently at me at the top of his voice. I tied the last
knot of my shoe laces and entered my father’s ultimate driving machine - his
BMW 730i. Preparations had been made. Both Mother and Father were as busy as
bees, purchasing the necessary camping gear. They enthusiastically made plans
as to where to camp too. As we headed for our campsite at Bishan Park, Evan had
some ants crawl up his pants and he could not stop fidgeting throughout the
entire journey. Evan had been awaiting this day for as long as I can remember.
On reaching Bishan Park, we got out of Father’s car, our
faces were as cheery as sunbeams. From the corner of his eye, Evan spotted a
lake with the water being crystal clear. A host of golden daffodils, beside the
lake and beneath an Angsana tree, was fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Evan felt that the daffodils were waving him a hello. After a prolonged period
of time, he snapped back to reality and followed, not wanting to lose us.
Pitching our tents at the place Father and Mother had
chosen, Evan watched some mynahs chirping while I was soon immersed in a
magazine. Meanwhile Father fried fish and chicken wings for dinner while Mother
prepared some drinks.
Soon, it was seven at night. By then, it was dinnertime.
Evan, who was as hungry as a wolf, immediately gobbled down some chicken wings
like a predator attacking its prey. He also slurped up his milkshake like a
vacuum cleaner.
“Eat slowly. You eat like there is no tomorrow,” Mother
cautioned him as she ruffled Evan’s hair attentively. We all laughed which
caused Evan to blush and turn as red as a tomato.
Time passed by very fast. Soon, we had to get back home.
Reluctantly, Evan and I trudged back to Father’s car. Mother assured us that if
we did well for our upcoming SA1 examinations, we could have another family
outing. I am certainly looking forward to it!
I enjoy the valuable moments with every family outing I get. How about you? ;-)
Tata, later~
