As Singapore's independence day, National Day (9 August), is fast approaching, I dug up an essay I wrote when I was 8 years old on "National Day Parade".
Last Sunday was National Day. John and his family went to watch the National Day Parade. There were many families and young children wearing red and white clothing. It was a nationwide celebration.
Last Sunday was National Day. John and his family went to watch the National Day Parade. There were many families and young children wearing red and white clothing. It was a nationwide celebration.
The
first parade was an army of soldiers marching proudly in their military
uniforms. They were dressed smartly and
were carrying their shiny rifles. The
whole place was a sea of red and white, the colours of the Singapore
flag. It was an exciting event.
Flags
were raised and fluttering vigorously in the wind. John and his family enjoyed themselves
tremendously that evening and had a great time there. John was left awestruck and he was very
proud to be a Singaporean, a part of such a superb nation.
