Accidents have been happening more frequently in Singapore, haven't they? I hope drivers, motor-cyclists, cyclists and pedestrians alike will all take ample precaution and keep both our roads and pavements safe. Here is an essay I wrote on the details of an accident.
The police officers then proceeded to cordon off the scene of the accident. Another police officer was seen taking down statements of eye witnesses. An hour later and the traffic was back to normal. The only evidence that an accident had occurred earlier were the shards of broken glass and blood-stained road.

An Accident
It
was a bright and sunny afternoon. John
was making his way to a shopping centre. He was crossing the traffic light junction between Queenstown and
Queensway. Out of the blue, he saw a van
hurtling towards him.
At a
quick glance, he noticed the van driver talking on his mobile phone. Just then, the van driver lost control of his
vehicle. The van was going against the
traffic. The driver of the oncoming car
slammed hard on his brakes.
Unfortunately, it was too late. Although screeching to an ear-piercing stop, the car rammed head on to
the van. Desperately, the van driver clung
onto his steering wheel trying as far as he could to avoid an
accident. Unfortunately, John was in the
path of the swerving van. He was flung
against the van’s bonnet. With
a thunderous thud, he landed on the ground, unconscious. Jane, an on-looker, tried to warn John but it
was too late.
The
van driver clambered down the van to check how John was. Panic-stricken, the car driver
alerted the police and the ambulance. He
narrated what he had witnessed to the police officer on the line.
John laid
sprawled on the tar road. His
face was pale and he was covered with crimson-red blood all over his face,
shirt and trousers. By then, a
crowd of curious on-lookers had gathered at the scene. When the ambulance arrived, the paramedics
sprang into action. They placed John
onto a gurney and placed him gingerly into the ambulance before being whizzed
off to the Singapore General Hospital.
The police officers then proceeded to cordon off the scene of the accident. Another police officer was seen taking down statements of eye witnesses. An hour later and the traffic was back to normal. The only evidence that an accident had occurred earlier were the shards of broken glass and blood-stained road.
