An Accident | Primary 2 essay for 8 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Accidents have been happening more frequently in Singapore, haven't they? I hope drivers, motor-cyclists, cyclists and pedestrians alike will all take ample precaution and keep both our roads and pavements safe. Here is an essay I wrote on the details of an accident.

An Accident
It was a bright and sunny afternoon. John was making his way to a shopping centre. He was crossing the traffic light junction between Queenstown and Queensway. Out of the blue, he saw a van hurtling towards him.

At a quick glance, he noticed the van driver talking on his mobile phone. Just then, the van driver lost control of his vehicle. The van was going against the traffic. The driver of the oncoming car slammed hard on his brakes.

Unfortunately, it was too late. Although screeching to an ear-piercing stop, the car rammed head on to the van.  Desperately, the van driver clung onto his steering wheel trying as far as he could to avoid an accident. Unfortunately, John was in the path of the swerving van. He was flung against the van’s bonnet. With a thunderous thud, he landed on the ground, unconscious. Jane, an on-looker, tried to warn John but it was too late.

The van driver clambered down the van to check how John was. Panic-stricken, the car driver alerted the police and the ambulance. He narrated what he had witnessed to the police officer on the line.

John laid sprawled on the tar road. His face was pale and he was covered with crimson-red blood all over his face, shirt and trousers. By then, a crowd of curious on-lookers had gathered at the scene. When the ambulance arrived, the paramedics sprang into action. They placed John onto a gurney and placed him gingerly into the ambulance before being whizzed off to the Singapore General Hospital.

The police officers then proceeded to cordon off the scene of the accident. Another police officer was seen taking down statements of eye witnesses. An hour later and the traffic was back to normal. The only evidence that an accident had occurred earlier were the shards of broken glass and blood-stained road.

Have you witnessed an accident before which you like to share?

More soon,

Stuck in the lift | Short essay, story for kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"Stuck in the lift" - an experience I am sure a number of you may be able to relate to ... but in this particular case though, it was a little worse than the usual one ...              Brave.             I had always thought I was brave. As brave as a lion. Not fearful of anything.             Until the lift had broken down.             I was waiting patiently for the lift doors to open. A mother and her daughter waited patiently. The mother, clad in a light blue dress made of best quality material, clutched her daughter’s hand. Her lustrous blond hair cascaded down her well-toned shoulders. My innermost thoughts were soon jolted by the familiar mechanical sound of the lift’s doors opening. If only I had reconsidered taking the stairs … ...

Marooned on an island | Essay for 10 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Hey there. Here's an adventure story " Marooned on an island" from me - a departure from my usual essay topics. Hope you enjoy this!             “No. This cannot be happening,” I muttered to myself as I stared at what was right before my bespectacled eyes. I had been marooned on a deserted island. The ship I was in had run aground.             The sun shone brilliantly and the high clouds drifted across the clear blue sky. My hands felt clammy. I tried looking for any signs of human activity but there was nobody in sight. The thought of being all alone sent shivers down my spine.             Being positive, I decided to go in search of food for myself. Arriving at the entrance of the jungle twenty minutes later, I was trembling like a leaf and my heart pounded wildly as I staggered uninhabited jungle on the i...

Incident of cheating at the exams (Primary 4 essay for 10 year olds by Elijah Wee, Singapore)

I am particularly proud of this essay I wrote when I was in Primary 4  (10 years old) at Ngee Ann Primary School - received my personal best score for this one, entitled "Incident of cheating at the exams" .     John was a lazy boy. He would always play computer games and watch television. One day, before his English examination, he began to panic as he had not revised for it. John took out his textbook and copied some notes down on the palm of his hand.     The next day, when the English examination had started, their form teacher, Mrs Ong, left the examination hall and the stern-looking Mrs Lim entered. As John was writing on his paper, he encountered a difficult question. No matter how hard he tried to think of the answer, his mind remained a blank state . Just then, an idea brewed in his mind, "Why not copy the answers from the palm of my hand?"     Before copying, John scanned the whole place like a robber on the lookout for men in b...
