A Close Shave (the tree incident) | Short Story for Kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is another version of "A close shave" - something  about a tree incident ...      I was dreadfully hungry.     Golden rays of sunshine sprinkled the ground. Despite the cheery sunshine, I trudged back home, my face as glum as an oyster. It was a tranquil Saturday afternoon and I was taking a stroll along the pavement round my neighbourhood. I was in an extremely bad mood as I was currently suffering from gastric pains. Why did I not eat anything for breakfast and lunch? Such a silly person I had been.     Then, something happened.     For some inexplicable reason, I shot a furtive glance at Miss Shah's garden. She was my neighbour and a close friend of my mother. Miss Shah had false eyelashes that stuck out a foot in front of her lovely Madonna face. She always enjoyed growing mangoes. Seeing the juicy ripe mangoes weighing down the branches of her mango tree, I drooled and rubbed my hands gleefully. "Hmm ... how about getting some of those

How foolish I was | Short Story for Kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"How foolish I was" - a story to be told on crime and the wheels of justice ...              How foolish I was.             How foolish I had been to believe my friends who were as cunning as foxes. It all started like this …             I was the leader of the infamous gang called the Mandarins. My fellow friends, Frank and Jacob and I had committed several heists across the globe. He had a fine crop of raven dark hair which he parted in the middle. Jacob Worming was the brains in the team – his deep set eyes could burrow deep into your deepest thoughts. What followed next was a cryptic smile that sprouted on his thin lips.             However, Frank Armstrong was the muscle in the team, as his name ironically suggested so. He was usually dressed

My heart palpitated with immense excitement as I watched the horror movie. Screams of agonizing pain and terrifying noises reverberated through my house. I was watching a horror movie entitled “Evil Dead”. Its special effects were tremendously amazing. I was so deeply engrossed that the buzzing of the streets, which sounded like humming flies failed to distract me.          Then, the real horror started.          Out of the blue, the television was mysteriously switched off and the entire living room was plunged into suffocating darkness, pitch dark. My eyes were bulging like an owl, with one moment sitting on the sofa and panic engulfing me. The next moment, a hand covered my mouth.          I tried to yell for help but whatever pleas of help were muffled. It was only then th
