An Unwelcome Visitor | English Essay for Kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

An Unwelcome Visitor From my archives ...           Bitter.          Albert and I were not the best of brothers. From childhood, Albert had always been the black sheep of the family. He always got into fights at school and barely made the cut at any exam he did. I was different. Very different. I passed my exams with flying colours and was the apple of our parents’ eyes. As such, Albert grew green-eyed and as envious as a Spaniard. He always bullied me at school with his gang of friends, turning my peers against me with malicious rumours. However, that was not satisfactory enough for him. Growing up, Albert constantly harassed me. However, I did not expect things to turn for the worse that fateful day.          Sarah and I plopped onto our brown leather sofa. Our eyes were fixed on the television screen as it flashed scenes from “Dracula Untold”. Sa...

No more anger | Short Story | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"No more anger" tells a story of a most unfortunate action done due to  circumstances ...           No more anger.          It all started on that fateful Saturday night. My heart was in my mouth. The buzzing of the streets outside, which sounded like flies humming barely distracted me. I was watching a horror movie entitled “Evil Dead” with my wife, Joanne. We were newly-weds – a month exactly. We were sitting huddled together on the leather sofa watching the movie. Joanne had large, round eyes and long raven dark hair that rippled whenever she strode briskly beside me. A beautiful woman, Joanne was always subjected to male looks lingering on her.          Then, the real horror started.          The flickering lights from the television screen which illuminated the living room stopped flashing, plungi...

How foolish I was | Short Story for Kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"How foolish I was" - a story to be told on crime and the wheels of justice ...              How foolish I was.             How foolish I had been to believe my friends who were as cunning as foxes. It all started like this …             I was the leader of the infamous gang called the Mandarins. My fellow friends, Frank and Jacob and I had committed several heists across the globe. We were Interpol’s most wanted criminals.             Jacob Worming was a small ratty-looking man whose front teeth stuck out underneath an apparently well-groomed moustache – incidentally his pride and joy. He had a fine crop of raven dark hair which he parted in the middle. Jacob Worming was the brains in the team – his deep set eyes could burrow deep into your deep...

Betrayed | Short Story for Kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

I enjoyed writing the following short story "Betrayed" which tells about a heist gone wrong. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I loved writing it.             Betrayed …             It all started like this. I was the leader of a notorious gang known as the Mandarin, committing heists all around the prosperous island of Singapore. Our team consisted of Jack, John and myself. Jack Worming was a small ratty-looking man whose front teeth stuck out underneath an apparently well-groomed moustache – incidentally his pride and joy. Jack was the brains of the team – his deep-set eyes could burrow into your deepest thoughts and his thin lips were periodically pursed into a cryptic smile.             John Armstrong, however, was the muscle, in the team. He was probably once a competitive athlete as eve...
