A Severe Car Accident | Essay for 10 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is an essay on "A severe car accident" , written when I was in Primary Four (10 year old). Blurry-eyed, Mr Tan woke up and wondered aloud, “What is the time now?” On seeing the time on his alarm clock, he jolted up in shock. It was seven in the morning! In a split second, he dashed to the bathroom. Finishing his shower, Mr Tan dressed into his work clothes and whooshed off to the dining room. Mrs Tan was as busy as a bee in the kitchen preparing breakfast. At that moment, Mrs Tan spotted Mr Tan at the corner of her navy blue eyes and said, “You really need to have a sense of urgency.” When Mrs Tan saw that Mr Tan was in the dining room, she hastily placed her husband’s breakfast onto the dining table. Wolfing down his breakfast in five minutes, Mr Tan kissed Mrs Tan on her right cheek and said, “Bye dear. See you tonight.” Three minutes later and he had clambered into his fifteen year old rickety car and was soon driving off. Blinking continuously to...

Unforgettable Lesson - Do not overeat! | Essay for 9 Year Olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

It's me again ... this time with an essay entitled "Unforgettable lesson - do not overeat" . “Hurray!” Jack exclaimed excitedly.   Hearing from his father that he would be going to his favourite Japanese buffet restaurant, Jack’s heart sang in joy and his eyes danced . On reaching the restaurant, the appetizing sights and smells emitted from the sumptuous buffet spread made Jack’s mouth water .   Like an excited schoolboy , Jack immediately grabbed a large plate and joined the queue.   Moving along in the queue, Jack started piling his plate with food his eyes laid fancy to. Within seconds of settling into the leather read seat, Jack started gobbling the food down.   He was as hungry as a wolf .   Not contented after his first round, Jack made a beeline to grab seconds.   Although he was full, Jack nevertheless, continued wolfing down several rounds of food.   Jack’s father looked on open-mouthed , astonished at his son’s huge appetite. R...

"FIRE!" | Primary Three Essay (for 9 Year Olds) | Elijah Wee | Singapore

The next essay is all about the terror a fire could bring to the neighbourhood. I was sleeping comfortably on my bed lulled into deep sleep by the cool night breeze .   Like a lightning that had struck , a burning smell flooded my nostrils and jolted me up out of slumber .  Looking out from my bedroom window, I stared opened-mouthed at the row of burning houses across the street. Without hesitation and like what any public-spirited citizen would do, I made a beeline for my parents’ bedroom and exclaimed frantically , “The row of houses across the road is up in flames!”   My parents jumped out from their beds and peered out from their bedroom window. Pandemonium had broken out as the panic-stricken residents rushed out from their homes like a herd of elephants away from the blazing flames.   Their faces were covered with soot and the smoke caused their eyes to be teary. Within minutes, the familiar wailing sirens of the fire engines announced their a...

Art Contest at the Park (Primary 2 Essay for 8 year olds by Elijah Wee, Singapore)

Here is a composition I wrote when I was in Primary 2 (8 years old) in Ngee Ann Primary School . I did this as part of my practice at home to hone my writing skills. Art Contest at the Park There was an Art Contest at the pack today.  Tom was among the many contestants who took part in it. His parents brought him to a shady sport at the park.  With his paint brushes, Tom painted the beautiful scenery around them.                    After Tom had finished his painting, he handed it to the organizer.  After all the art pieces had been submitted, the judges started to select the winning pieces. Tom won the first prize!  When he went up the stage to receive the prize, his father, mother, sister and cousins cheered for him.  Tom was beaming with pride that he had won the Art Competition. Well, I must admit I am not good in art. Have you won ...

A knock on the door in the middle of the night (Primary 4 essay for 10 year olds by Elijah Wee, Singapore)

Hi there, I will be posting up a number of my recent Primary school essays (from Ngee Ann Primary School as well as those done at home) here in the next couple of weeks. Appreciate your feedback on my stories! Here's the first one from my Primary 4 (10 years old) collection , entitled "A knock on the door in the middle of the night" .     Whenever I see a fire, be it in real life or on television, I would tremble in fear and recall an incident that happened a few days ago.     It was late at night. I was tossing and turning on my bed as I tried to sleep. At that juncture, I heard a loud banging outside my house. Surprised and bewildered by the thought of whether someone was banging on my door or a burglar trying to break into my house, I went out to investigate.     When I opened the door, I saw my neighbour, Aunt Fiona. She was perspiring profusely and was as pale as a ghost . "What is it?" I asked Aunt Fiona. With tears welling in her eyes ...
