The Killer Litter Incident | essay for 9 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

I am back now with an essay I wrote about "The Killer Litter Incident"  during my Primary Three (i.e. 9 year old) days in Ngee Ann Primary School . “Goodbye, I will see you tomorrow!” Tom shouted as he waved farewell to his friend.  It was a sweltering hot afternoon and all Tom wanted to do was to have a cold shower.   With the image of cold water beating his back , Tom took to his heels and made his way. On his way home, Tom noticed a man on the fourth storey.  His face was a red mask of fury because he wanted some money from his wife to buy beer but his wife refused to give it to him.   The man had an angry expression on his face.   Tom saw him carrying a television set.   With an ear-piercing scream , the man threw the television set out the window.  Just then, an unsuspecting woman was walking by.    Tom tried to warn the woman but it was too late. The television set sailed through the air and hit the woman on the head.   The woman fainted and blood gush

The Mango Theft Incident – Version 2 (for 9 year olds) by Elijah Wee’s Classmate, Kooi Xiu Min | Singapore

I have recently requested my great pals and classmates from Ngee Ann Primary School to contribute their essays over here. Our English teacher, Ms Shah, has been our pillar of support for our essay sharing initiative. Here's the first contribution from my very first guest writer, Kooi Xiu Min with her essay,  "The Mango Theft Incident – Version 2" - well, version one was mine which I posted some time ago over here . “Oh … I’m so hungry!” Tim groaned. He had been walking home from his tuition class and was famished for he had not eaten a morsel for lunch. To make matters worse, the sun shone mercilessly and Tim was soaked with perspiration. From the corner of his eye, he saw his neighbor, Mr Flaherty’s mango tree. His tummy growled loudly as he licked his crimson lips. “Mangoes, here I come!” he declared, with a malicious glint in his eye. After glancing around quickly, to make sure nobody was watching, Tim climbed over the fence and rubbed

Picnic in the Park - a family outing | Primary Two Essay (for 8 year olds) | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"Picnic in the park - a family outing" - that's a real fun family outing and is also the title of my essay here from my Primary Two collection. It was a windy Saturday afternoon. Tom’s parents decided to bring Tom and his sister to the park for a picnic. Tom and his sister were excited as it was the first time they were going for a picnic. They packed everything they needed into the car, including a picnic mat, a picnic basket and some food. When they reached the park, they quickly took out and laid the picnic mat and picnic basket onto the soft grass. They ate the delicious sandwiches that their mother had prepared for the. After finishing up the food, Tom and his sister went to a nearby pond while their parents read the newspapers they had brought along. Soon it was time to go. Both Tom and his sister were reluctant to leave. Tom’s parents told them that they could come back again. On the way back home, Tom smiled to himself. He certainly enjoyed hi

"FIRE!" | Primary Three Essay (for 9 Year Olds) | Elijah Wee | Singapore

The next essay is all about the terror a fire could bring to the neighbourhood. I was sleeping comfortably on my bed lulled into deep sleep by the cool night breeze .   Like a lightning that had struck , a burning smell flooded my nostrils and jolted me up out of slumber .  Looking out from my bedroom window, I stared opened-mouthed at the row of burning houses across the street. Without hesitation and like what any public-spirited citizen would do, I made a beeline for my parents’ bedroom and exclaimed frantically , “The row of houses across the road is up in flames!”   My parents jumped out from their beds and peered out from their bedroom window. Pandemonium had broken out as the panic-stricken residents rushed out from their homes like a herd of elephants away from the blazing flames.   Their faces were covered with soot and the smoke caused their eyes to be teary. Within minutes, the familiar wailing sirens of the fire engines announced their arrival as they whiz

Incident in the School Canteen | Primary Three Essay (for 9 Year Olds) | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Recess time is my favourite period of my school day. Isn't it yours too? Anyways, I wrote the following "Incident in the School Canteen" when I was in Primary 3. Do have a read. The bell rang to mark the beginning of recess.  Like buzzing bees to a honeycomb , the overzealous pupils hurried down the flight of stairs towards the canteen. Eagerly, they queued to purchase the mouth-watering foo d and beverages to fill up their growling stomachs. Tom and Jack also rushed to the canteen, wanting to get to their favourite stall to have their favourite meal – wanton noodles. When Jack and Tom reached the stall, they queued immediately.   While waiting to buy their food, they began fighting playfully with each other.   It was very normal as they had done this all the time.   Before Tom could react, Jack gave him a push which sent him into Jane’s path and this inevitably caused him to unintentionally knock into Jane. With a thunderous thud , Jane lost her balanc

Alas! A Rainy Day at the Beach | Primary Three Essay for 9 Year Olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

During my Primary Three days, I wrote the following essay "Alas! A Rainy Day at the Beach" . Tell me how you find it. It was a sweltering hot Saturday afternoon. Mr. Lee and his family were at home enjoying each other’s company and watching television.  In the midst of the afternoon movie, Mrs. Lee suggested that they go to the beach to chill out.  Mrs. Lee’s suggestion was greeted with glee by her children, Jack and Jane.  Like eager beavers , the Lee family immediately started packing into the car what they needed for their outing.  Grinning from ear to ear , Jack and Jane, entered the car. On reaching the beach, Mr. Lee, Jack and Jane made a beeline in the direction of the sea. The children were wearing their newly purchased swimming gear from Bangkok. Meanwhile, Mrs. Lee laid out the picnic mat under the shade of a nearby Rain tree. Comfortable, she took out her book and started to read it. They were having so much fun at the beach.  Unexpectedly, a clap of

Attack by the bees - a case of mischief | Primary Two Essay (for 8 year olds) | Elijah Wee

Do you like insects? Have you been attacked by any insects before? Here is a short essay I wrote when I was 8 years old (Primary Two), about the "Attack of the bees" . Read on ...  Attack of the bees                   It was a bright and sunny Friday afternoon, a perfect day for an outdoor activity . Jane was at the park with her parents and her brother, Thomas. She was looking at the trees when out of the blue, she saw a bee hive up on a tree. Being a curious girl, she used a stick and began hitting it. She wanted to know if there were bees inside.                   After her fifth hit, a swarm of angry bees buzzed out and started to attack her. The bees buzzed angrily around Jane. She was dumbfounded at first. Five seconds after regaining her composure , she took to her heels and fled . Unfortunately, the bees were too quick for her and they began stinging her. She stopped and tried to protect herself. Her family members heard her incessant sh

A Visit to Grandparents' Place | Primary 2 Essay (for 8 year olds) | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here's a short essay entitled "A Visit to the Grandparents' Place" , which I composed when I was 8 years old. A Visit to the Grandparents’ Place It was a Saturday afternoon. Tom’s parents brought Tom and his sister to visit their grandparents. Tom and his sister were excited. They had not seen their grandparents for a long time. As their parents drove to their grandparents’ house, they thought of how their grandparents doted on them , like baking them cakes and cookies, buying them books to read, and playing chess and other board games with them.                    When they reached their grandparents’ house, Tom and his sister got out of the car and knocked on the door. Their grandparents opened the door and welcomed them with a big hug . There were big smiles on everyone’s faces.                    Knowing that Tom and his sister would be hungry, their grandmother had baked their favourite butter cake for them.  Meanwhile, their gra
