Incident of cheating at the exams - Version 2 | for 10 year olds | Jarrod Paul Dharmaraj | Singapore

Allow me to introduce my pal and Ngee Ann Primary School classmate, Jarrod Paul Dharmaraj, who has contributed the following essay on "Incident of cheating at the exams" - my version was published earlier.

John was both a copycat and a lazy boy. He loved to play computer games and never gave a thought about his schoolwork. He spent most of his time glued to the computer screen. The PSLE was drawing near, and John had not even started revising for the examinations. As his Mathematics examination drew nearer and nearer, John started to get anxious. Finally, he decided to take desperate measures; he was going to cheat!

A day before the examination, the teacher asked John, Tom and Jake to go to the staff room to collect some books. When they were there, they picked up the books from the teacher’s table. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, John saw the examination paper on the table. He purposely dropped his books, asking the others to go off first. He then took a pen and wrote some answers down on the palm of his hand. Then, he walked back to the classroom.

The day of the examination finally arrived. As the students entered the examination hall, John felt nervous. What if he was caught? With butterflies in his stomach, he sat down on his allocated seat. The papers were handed out and there was total silence in the hall. “You may begin writing now,” said the teacher.

John was perspiring. He hoped the words he had copied on the palm of his hand had not smudged. They did not! He started copying down the answers. Little did he know that the teacher was looking at him. “John Tan, stand up!” she thundered. John stood up, a sense of dread building up inside him. “Report to the General Office, now,” she said. John followed her to the General Office, thinking of the look of disappointment on his parents’ faces when they heard about the incident.

His parents were certainly angry with him, and he was grounded from playing computer games for two weeks. John vowed never to cheat again.

More contributions from my friends and classmates to come. So stay tuned!

See you later,
Elijah Wee

About the guest writer (Jarrod Paul Dharmaraj)
Hello! I am a very social boy who can develop bonds with people around me easily. Besides my love for reading (my favourite series are Harry Potter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid), I also have a passion for singing English songs as well as acting. Songs like "Payphone", "Grenade" and "Last Friday Night" are currently constantly playing in my mind ;-) As for my favourite movie series, "Harry Potter" comes up tops!

Stuck in the lift | Short essay, story for kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"Stuck in the lift" - an experience I am sure a number of you may be able to relate to ... but in this particular case though, it was a little worse than the usual one ...              Brave.             I had always thought I was brave. As brave as a lion. Not fearful of anything.             Until the lift had broken down.             I was waiting patiently for the lift doors to open. A mother and her daughter waited patiently. The mother, clad in a light blue dress made of best quality material, clutched her daughter’s hand. Her lustrous blond hair cascaded down her well-toned shoulders. My innermost thoughts were soon jolted by the familiar mechanical sound of the lift’s doors opening. If only I had reconsidered taking the stairs … ...

Fishing Trip (Primary 2 Essay for 8 year olds by Elijah Wee, Singapore)

Another one from the old collection of my Primary Two (8 years old) essays. I did this one at home. Fishing Trip It was a hot and blistering day .   Tom and his father decided to go to the river to fish.   It was Tom’s first fishing trip and he didn’t want to miss it. When they reached there, Tom and his father sat at the river and Tom’s father took out bait and fishing rods to fish with.   Tom’s father gave Tom one to fish. After half an hour, Tom felt a strong tug from his fishing line.   Tom quickly pulled out his fishing rod out.   The fish that he caught was struggling to get out.   Tom also struggled to pull the fish out of the water.   When he finally managed to pull it out, he took a look at it and found out it was an enormous fish.   Tom felt excited about this first catch. After that, they started a fire. They cooked the fish over the fire. The fish was very delicious. Tom looked forwa...

Marooned on an island | Essay for 10 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Hey there. Here's an adventure story " Marooned on an island" from me - a departure from my usual essay topics. Hope you enjoy this!             “No. This cannot be happening,” I muttered to myself as I stared at what was right before my bespectacled eyes. I had been marooned on a deserted island. The ship I was in had run aground.             The sun shone brilliantly and the high clouds drifted across the clear blue sky. My hands felt clammy. I tried looking for any signs of human activity but there was nobody in sight. The thought of being all alone sent shivers down my spine.             Being positive, I decided to go in search of food for myself. Arriving at the entrance of the jungle twenty minutes later, I was trembling like a leaf and my heart pounded wildly as I staggered uninhabited jungle on the i...
