That was the best birthday party ever! | Essay for 10 year olds | Stephanie Luong | Singapore

"That was the best birthday party ever!" is the title of this next essay from my Ngee Ann Primary School classmate, Stephanie Luong.

“That was the best party ever!” I screamed at the top of my lungs as I helped clean up the leftover food lying on the table. I was too besieged with exhilaration and jubilation to even pick up a plastic cup. I kept replaying in my head several times what happened that day…

I woke up early that fine Saturday morning. The smell of dew filled my nostrils as I quickly slipped on a pair of denim jeans and a t-shirt. I took a quick peep out of my window and saw the sun still lazily rising over the horizon. I dashed down the stairs with a spring in my step. When I entered the kitchen, I was shocked! There were no presents, no breakfast prepared and not even a simple birthday cake! I tried my best to fight back the tears that was starting to well up in my eyes.

“Have they forgotten about my birthday?” I asked myself as I slapped on some butter on my toast and walked grumpily towards my favourite chair. “Maybe, it won’t be so bad after all,” I thought to myself. However, I spoke too soon. I sat down and… ‘Pprrph!’ Startled, I jumped up and realized that I had sat on a ‘whopee’ cushion, and on top of the cushion was a note with “Happy Birthday! Haha! Love, your brother, Harry!” written on it. I stared angrily at the note, picked it up and tore it into pieces. I could feel the tears splattering on my cheeks for the second time that day. I stormed angrily out of the house and perched myself on the front steps. I sighed heavily as I wiped away the tears from my tear-stained cheeks.

Soon, I heard the sound of coffee beans being grinded. After what I had been through, I promised to never go into the house again. Unfortunately, my stomach ‘disagreed’ with me as it started rumbling. I took a deep breath, got up slowly and walked into the house. What I saw made me nearly faint! Right in front of my very eyes were all my closest friends, each with a present in hand. They all shouted a loud and clear “Happy Birthday!” Even Harry did! I started tearing again. I was touched to see everyone I loved at my surprise party!

“Thank you all so much!” I managed to gush as I gave all my friends a bear hug. Soon, the party began! Whilst I was dancing to the latest hits, I pulled Harry aside and asked him how he managed to get all my friends there. “A magician never reveals his secret!” he said smugly. I shrugged and got back on the dance floor.

Soon, it was time for my birthday speech. Everyone listened in awe as I finished my last sentence. What more could a person ask for other than a loving family?

Stuck in the lift | Short essay, story for kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"Stuck in the lift" - an experience I am sure a number of you may be able to relate to ... but in this particular case though, it was a little worse than the usual one ...              Brave.             I had always thought I was brave. As brave as a lion. Not fearful of anything.             Until the lift had broken down.             I was waiting patiently for the lift doors to open. A mother and her daughter waited patiently. The mother, clad in a light blue dress made of best quality material, clutched her daughter’s hand. Her lustrous blond hair cascaded down her well-toned shoulders. My innermost thoughts were soon jolted by the familiar mechanical sound of the lift’s doors opening. If only I had reconsidered taking the stairs … ...

Fishing Trip (Primary 2 Essay for 8 year olds by Elijah Wee, Singapore)

Another one from the old collection of my Primary Two (8 years old) essays. I did this one at home. Fishing Trip It was a hot and blistering day .   Tom and his father decided to go to the river to fish.   It was Tom’s first fishing trip and he didn’t want to miss it. When they reached there, Tom and his father sat at the river and Tom’s father took out bait and fishing rods to fish with.   Tom’s father gave Tom one to fish. After half an hour, Tom felt a strong tug from his fishing line.   Tom quickly pulled out his fishing rod out.   The fish that he caught was struggling to get out.   Tom also struggled to pull the fish out of the water.   When he finally managed to pull it out, he took a look at it and found out it was an enormous fish.   Tom felt excited about this first catch. After that, they started a fire. They cooked the fish over the fire. The fish was very delicious. Tom looked forwa...

The Surprise Birthday Party | Primary 2 essay for 8 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

I have always loved birthday parties , whether it be mine or my friends'. Here is an essay on "The Surprise Birthday Party" , which I wrote when I was in Primary 2  (8 years old). The Surprise Birthday Party It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Jill was excited today as it was her birthday. She went down the stairs to have her breakfast with her family. Jill was excited as she ate her delicious breakfast. She was looking forward to her birthday party. In the afternoon, the whole family except Jill, went out shopping. Jill decided to take a nap while waiting for them.                    When she woke up, Jill went into the living room to check if her family had returned home. She found that the living room was dark and nobody was around. Strange, it was already into the night and her family had not yet come home. Jill decided to ...
