A Severe Car Accident | Essay for 10 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

Here is an essay on "A severe car accident", written when I was in Primary Four (10 year old).

Blurry-eyed, Mr Tan woke up and wondered aloud, “What is the time now?” On seeing the time on his alarm clock, he jolted up in shock. It was seven in the morning! In a split second, he dashed to the bathroom.

Finishing his shower, Mr Tan dressed into his work clothes and whooshed off to the dining room. Mrs Tan was as busy as a bee in the kitchen preparing breakfast. At that moment, Mrs Tan spotted Mr Tan at the corner of her navy blue eyes and said, “You really need to have a sense of urgency.”

When Mrs Tan saw that Mr Tan was in the dining room, she hastily placed her husband’s breakfast onto the dining table. Wolfing down his breakfast in five minutes, Mr Tan kissed Mrs Tan on her right cheek and said, “Bye dear. See you tonight.” Three minutes later and he had clambered into his fifteen year old rickety car and was soon driving off.

Blinking continuously to keep his tired eyes open, Mr Tan swerved his car from lane to lane unknowingly. As his car zigzagged down the street like a snake, the cars on the street were forced to screech to a stop and their drivers leaning forward on their horns as they tried to avoid colliding into Mr Tan’s car.

All of the sudden, Mr Tan spotted a flashy red BMW zooming right into his path. He jammed on the brakes but it was too late. The huge impact of the collision sent Mr Tan’s car swerving to the right and turning turtle while the other driver’s car skidded for a few minutes before crashing into the Angsana tree by the opposite sidewalk.

The driver of the other car was pinned under a fallen tree branch and the mangled pieces of metal, which used to be the bonnet of his car. Smeared with blood, the driver’s face was as pale as death.

Several minutes later, Mr Tan was rescued by the Civil Defence and rushed to the nearest SGH hospital. Half an hour after the fateful accident, Mrs Tan received a phone call from the police about her husband’s accident. Hearing the news that he was in hospital with severe injuries, Mrs Tan hastened to kill the call and prepared helter skelter for her visit to the hospital.

The accident will always chill Mr Tan to the bone whenever he recalls it. In fact, the accident has stayed fresh in his mind even after five years, as if it happened only a couple of days ago. Since that fateful day of his accident, Mr Tan vowed to turn over a new leaf to not drive when he is exhausted and instead to take a bus to avoid endangering others and himself on the roads.

Road accidents happen every day due to several reasons - exhaustion and unable to focus on the road conditions being one of the major factors. Let's ensure we remind those around us to be careful out there and keep the roads safe for everyone, shall we?

Stuck in the lift | Short essay, story for kids | Elijah Wee | Singapore

"Stuck in the lift" - an experience I am sure a number of you may be able to relate to ... but in this particular case though, it was a little worse than the usual one ...              Brave.             I had always thought I was brave. As brave as a lion. Not fearful of anything.             Until the lift had broken down.             I was waiting patiently for the lift doors to open. A mother and her daughter waited patiently. The mother, clad in a light blue dress made of best quality material, clutched her daughter’s hand. Her lustrous blond hair cascaded down her well-toned shoulders. My innermost thoughts were soon jolted by the familiar mechanical sound of the lift’s doors opening. If only I had reconsidered taking the stairs … ...

Fishing Trip (Primary 2 Essay for 8 year olds by Elijah Wee, Singapore)

Another one from the old collection of my Primary Two (8 years old) essays. I did this one at home. Fishing Trip It was a hot and blistering day .   Tom and his father decided to go to the river to fish.   It was Tom’s first fishing trip and he didn’t want to miss it. When they reached there, Tom and his father sat at the river and Tom’s father took out bait and fishing rods to fish with.   Tom’s father gave Tom one to fish. After half an hour, Tom felt a strong tug from his fishing line.   Tom quickly pulled out his fishing rod out.   The fish that he caught was struggling to get out.   Tom also struggled to pull the fish out of the water.   When he finally managed to pull it out, he took a look at it and found out it was an enormous fish.   Tom felt excited about this first catch. After that, they started a fire. They cooked the fish over the fire. The fish was very delicious. Tom looked forwa...

The Surprise Birthday Party | Primary 2 essay for 8 year olds | Elijah Wee | Singapore

I have always loved birthday parties , whether it be mine or my friends'. Here is an essay on "The Surprise Birthday Party" , which I wrote when I was in Primary 2  (8 years old). The Surprise Birthday Party It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Jill was excited today as it was her birthday. She went down the stairs to have her breakfast with her family. Jill was excited as she ate her delicious breakfast. She was looking forward to her birthday party. In the afternoon, the whole family except Jill, went out shopping. Jill decided to take a nap while waiting for them.                    When she woke up, Jill went into the living room to check if her family had returned home. She found that the living room was dark and nobody was around. Strange, it was already into the night and her family had not yet come home. Jill decided to ...
